Today's theme: Meeting the Yamamoto siblings

Totsuka Shota and Sudo Risa visited the gym run by the Yamamoto family, which includes Yamamoto KID Norifumi.

Both of them are big fans of KID, and were really excited to see him. And Totsuka Shota even requested to be kicked by him so he can just how powerful it is. Though however, his voice was really tiny when he requested that. And Yakumaru-san, who was watching the video in the studio, commented "You didn't really want to, did you?" XD My sentiments exactly.

After that they did some exercises that are part of the Yamamoto siblings' training. To the Yamamoto siblings they were really simple, but Totsuka Shota and Sudo Risa weren't able to stand anymore after just one set of a one minute circuit. And then they did more stuff, like calf raising, lunges, squats etc., and Totsuka Shota said "My legs are so full of lactic acid bacteria". Everybody burst out laughing because he meant lactic acid instead. And KID replied "Yeah, and yoghurt's gonna come out of me". XD

Hanamaru really rocks. When they started the sports corner I thought it would be a chance to see the kakkoii side of Totsuka Shota. But instead every week he just gets more amusing. XD Can't wait for next week!

And also, I've got some other Johnny's and Japanese idol stuff for sale HERE, if you're interested. =)

Secondly, since the response to the trivia sections in the previous version of this site was pretty good, I've started something similar again... Only this time, I'm doing it Hyakushiki style. You can find the link on the sidebar. It's not complete yet and I'll be updating it. I'll announce whenever I do so, but anyway the page shows when it's last been updated, so you can check it out on the page itself in any case.

When I was looking through the magazines to pick up stuff I can put on that page, I came across this interview of Totsuka Shota:

Wink up 2004-03
Lovely Date

[...] What I think a cool guy should be is someone who can sing well and speaks very little, but can make everybody laugh with just a few words. I don't think one can be a real man unless he is able to play the clown too at times, and not just act cool all the time. And of course he needs to look good in sunglasses and leather pants, but he looks nice in pink and stuff. And he shouldn't be too tall, maybe just around 170cm. I guess that's the "cool guy" that I'm aiming to become.[...]

I think I've mentioned before somewhere that that description sounds awfully like what he now is. Well, except maybe the sunglasses and leather pants part. XD; But when I first said that I was kinda joking, because I thought he was just describing himself as his ideal, consciously or not. However, after watching Teppan Note recently, I've realised that it's not that simple.

In the first or second episode of that show, they mentioned the psychological effect of having an ideal self in your mind constantly. Supposedly, if you can do that without ever lowering your ideals, you'll eventually get closer to it unconsciously.

And when I read this interview again with that in mind, I realised that Totsuka Shota was not describing himself as his ideal, but he's becoming what he described as his ideal. And that is really impressive, because not lowering your standards is nowhere nearly as easy as it sounds.

Even though everyone says he's always doing weird things out of the blue, stuff like this makes me think that he actually knows exactly what he wants and what he should do. And I truly admire that.

        Today's theme: Cardiolates

Totsuka Shota and Sudo Risa experienced a very new sport called Cardiolates, which is a combination of cardio exercises done on a mini trampoline, and pilates. The most important thing in this sport is maintaining good posture, because otherwise you won't be able to balance yourself while jumping.

At the beginning when they first tried both of them couldn't jump for more than like 5 seconds without losing their balance. So they examined their postures and realised that both of them had some problems. For Totsuka Shota, it showed that he hunches a little. At first I thought they were exaggerating it to show the effects of the exercise at first, because he looked ok. But at the end of the 40 minute session, they examined his posture again, and it was really a huge difference. He looks thinner and taller with good posture. Hopefully he maintains it. =D

After the video they went back to the studio and Totsuka Shota explained the posture-improving exercise to the hosts, Yakumaru-san and Okae-san. Basically you have to stand with the 3 points of your feet, the root of the big toe, the root of the little toe, and the heel, "suctioned" to the floor, while the arc floats. From there, you stand on tiptoes, then raise your arms and stretch in a way that's like you're being pulled from above and below. Totsuka Shota did well till the tiptoes part. But when he raised his arms he said "And now you raise both feet" by accident. Uh... HOW?! XD Probably Tsuka-chan will be able to do it somehow though, because he can do anything. XD

One thing I noted about Sports GoGo is that even though Totsuka Shota is only the assistant he seems to be doing more than Sudo Risa. He's the one that's carrying out the show, explaining and demonstrating. Sudo Risa seems to be just making comments. I guess it makes sense since he's been in Hanamaru for a year more than she has and is more experienced with running a live show. And he's really gotten so much more relaxed and natural compared to the past! I'm hoping that in the future, when he becomes well known enough, he'll get to hold a corner of his own. I'm sure he'll do a good job. X3

        ■ duet

This month they talked about their separate lives in Tokyo and Osaka, and wrote messages to one another. My favourite was this part by Tsuka-chan:

Some time ago Tottsu contacted me. He doesn't do that a lot, so it made me wonder if he's missing me? (laughs)

Aww! One month must have been really long for them too. And it's really sweet that Totsuka Shota missed Tsuka-chan, because I was under the impression that A.B.C. aren't that close in private now compared to when they were younger, and they have their own circles of friends among the Jr.

Q Which Johnny's Jr. do you find notable recently?
A Kazama (Shunsuke)-kun. I can't take my eyes off Kazama-kun, who has succeeded in the "collaboration of Japanese and Western" with his blonde hair.

... Waht? XD I loved this part so much. <s>And I wonder if Kazama-san's success is relative to his failure in the same collaboration last year.</s>

He also mentioned that he's been eating really little recently. No wonder he's been so pretty! But according to him all he has for breakfast is a banana and all he has for dinner is kimchi natto. I'm really not sure if that's healthy. orz

You can read the whole article translated by me here, if I've already added you as a friend on that LJ.

■ POTATO

The theme this time is Kitchen Invader. I just love their random English titles. Anyway Totsuka Shota says in there that he likes Japanese cuisine the most, which surprised me because so far he's always been answering pasta when asked what his favourite food is.

You can read the whole article translated by enshinge here.

■ Wink up

This picture is just so PRETTY. Have I ranted about how much I love Wink up yet on this site? No? Ok, I love Wink up. =D Like what someone said in his/her comment on my LJ, he looks like he stepped directly out of a fairytale. I even like the way the stylist deliberately? messed up the left side of his hair. I liked this picture so much that I made it into a banner for this site immediately. If you're lucky enough you may have already seen it. If not, try again next time! XD

So in this article he reveals that he's actually good friends with Goto Hiromi (or violin boy, just in case). The 3 of them, him, Goto, and Kawai-chan, shared a room during Enbujou, and Goto would sometimes play soothing violin music in there. I wonder if Kawai-chan played the sounds of the waves and the chirping of birds that Yokoo-san gave him too? XD

And Kawai-chan apologised once again to all Tottsu fans for killing him so grotesquely during Enbujou:

And also, this time, I'm playing the role of a bad guy, and am doing terrible things to Tottsu and Fujigaya (laughs). I have to stop Saburo, played by Tottsu, with one hand, when he's so badly injured that he can't even walk straight anymore. Then I stab him from above with my katana, and then press it all the way in before pulling it out, then kick him away when he turns to me... It's just cruel (laughs). I apologise to all the Tottsu fans out there (laughs). But Tottsu once said that he wanted to play a role killed by me someday, right? Well, I've made his dream come true this time (laughs).

Yeah if you know me then you'll probably know I was like all melting over their cuteness when I was reading this. Though the text itself is pretty grotesque. XD But look! The fact that Totsuka Shota wanted to play a role killed by Kawai-chan shows how much he admires his acting. Which I heard was fantastic in Enbujou and I totally can't wait for the DVD <3 Even Kawai-chan said he heard sniffling from the audience, though he thinks that might have just been because it's the hay fever season. XD

And also, Kawai-chan seems to remember everything about Totsuka Shota. Even though it may just be because he's the biggest Johnny's fanboy in Johnny's Jr., I think it's also because of the rival-friend relationship between the two of them. He's constantly looking at Totsuka Shota because he has a sense of rivalry towards him, but while looking at him, he also starts feeling respect and friendship. And when looking at him as a friend, he also feels the need to catch up with him. Same for Totsuka Shota. That's why I love their relationship so much.

But then again... what kind of dream is that, Totsuka Shota? Are you M? -_-;

Today's theme: Basketball

Totsuka Shota and Sudo Risa went to learn basketball from a professional player, Igarashi Kei. He taught them basic stuff like passing and shooting, and then some fitness exercises that they do in training.

Well. Totsuka Shota's performance was kinda sad. XD; So much that even Yakumaru-san was like "What was that?" when he finished watching the video.

During the passing, Igarashi Kei taught them how to make the ball spin by snapping his fingers when throwing the ball. Sudo Risa tried first, and he said hers was too slow. Then Totsuka Shota tried, and Igarashi was like "Yours is even more gentle than hers". And then during the shooting, before even trying to shoot, Totsuka Shota was like "I don't think I'm gonna make it D:", and he really did miss. After that, during fitness exercises, they first did this squat thing where they have to slowly squat till their knees are 90 degrees to the ground. And before he came even close he was like "I can't do it anymore" and fell. XD;

When they went back to the studio after the video, someone (I can't remember who) commented that Totsuka Shota is gentle in everything he does. I guess that's a nicer way to put it. XD;

So that's it for this episode. I'll try to write for every episode from now on. =D

The last episode of Takizawa Hideaki's radio show, Takizawa Denpajou, aired yesterday, was recorded in his dressing room of Takizawa Enbujou. And. Guess who made a guest appearance! =D

Yes, Totsuka Shota and Kawai Fumito made their radio debut. +applaudes+

Supposedly next week's broadcast would be from his dressing room too, so there's a possibility the boys may appear again. So do listen to it if you get the chance to. =D

I hate it that my first post in like 2 weeks is about this. But. No choice.

People. Please stop copying / reposting my translations without permission.

If common sense and ethics (and the fact that I STATED that copying is not allowed) are not good enough reasons to convince you, think about these.

1. It takes time for me to do the translations. And brain cells. You have no idea how many of them are sacrificed in the process of deciphering weird sentences that are shortened to fit the music. And I know you don't give a damn how much effort I took. Which is ok, I don't ask for any thanks. But how would you feel if you are the one doing it, and you don't get any thanks at all, and people steal your work?

2. There's a reason why I post my stuff openly. I don't see why you have to repost instead of just linking to this site. I don't have to be this generous with my stuff.

3. I'm really really open to requests for reposting. Ask anyone who's reposted my stuff on LJ before. They just ask for permission and I never ever say no. So yeah. Just ask. If there's really a need to repost in the first place.

I know who exactly it is who is stealing my stuff. And I'm not doing anything for now because I don't have the time or energy to go after every one of you. But if this carries on, I will take action. Or I'll just stop sharing. Simple as that.

Sorry to sound harsh. Though I'm actually more pissed off than I sound.

■ Takizawa Enbujou '08

Totsuka Shota will be playing the role that Kazama Shunsuke played last year (i.e. he has a name!), and will be featured in the Jr. postcard set and Jr. poster.

Hmm. Sounds exciting. =D

Anyway. Hadaka no shounen report below!

Theme: Delicious donburi (rice bowls)
Featuring: Chin Kenichi, Yabu Kota, Totsuka Shota
It's been a long time since Totsuka Shota has appeared on the show, and even though gourmet shows bore me I always enjoy seeing Totsuka Shota on Hadaka no shounen because he eats everything so deliciously and happily. XD Especially since this episode was with Yabu, one of his best friends. I was like dying of moe just reading the report on Wink up. XD

1. Oyakodon

The first stop was a restaurant that serves a very "unusual" oyakodon. However, when it was served, it looked just like any other oyakodon.

So Totsuka Shota and Yabu started going like "It doesn't look very unusual" and everything, and even though Chin-san was trying to explain neither of them were listening. XD

2. Steak-don

Next stop was a place that served a donburi with top quality steak.

Look at how happy Totsuka Shota is to hear that. XD

And when they arrived at the restaurant, the owner brought out the meat to show them just how good it is.

Totsuka Shota's expression TOTALLY cracked me up. XD

The chef started preparing the steak right on the hot plate right in front of them. And Totsuka Shota was so excited that he started laughing. XD

3. Barachirashidon

Next, they visited a sushi restaurant that serves a really cheap and delicious donburi. They had to walk for quite a while to get there, and when they reached the place, there was a long queue. So they spoke to the people in it, and were told just how great the donburi is.

Totsuka Shota's super happy smile. Don't you just love his weird dimples. XD

4. Tendon

Totsuka Shota's extremely delicious expression. Seriously, he makes everything look so delicious though I can't eat 3 out of the 4 donburis they introduced. XD;

Cooking corner

Before I comment on that screencap, here's an excerpt from Wink up's report:

They put on their caps in the ktichen side by side, with the glass doors of the cupboards as their mirrors. And the conversation went like this...

Yabu: Which side (of the cap) is supposed to be in front?
Totsuka: I don't think it matters? As long as you get it on.
Yabu: (Ignoring Totsuka's answer) This side should be behind.
Totsuka: Well, as long as you get it on.

And after they finally get their caps on, Tottsu and Yabu exchanged a look, and for some reason, both of them giggled.

HOW CUTE IS THAT. But then again. I think Totsuka Shota's cap IS on the wrong way. XD Just compare his and Yabu's. But oh well. As long as he gets it on. +thumbs up+

I was amazed to see Totsuka Shota cutting the meat so well, and especially the fact that he was pressing it down with his knuckles instead of his fingers. Which I know you're supposed to do, but always forget when I'm actually doing it. But then when I was looking for the excerpt above I saw this on Wink up...

He (Totsuka Shota) claims that it may be his first time holding a knife, and sure enough, his hands were trembling. However, with Chin-san's advice, he soon became able to cut smoothly.

... First time. orz Though actually it's pretty obvious from the way he's holding the knife. XD But the boy really did his best. Just look how messy his hair was by the end of it! XD

Today's Totsuka Shota's first anniversary as a regular on Hanamaru Market! +confetti+

When he first joined the show, he was Becky's assistant in the corner "Becky's Garden", which is all about gardening. And then the corner became "Mezase! Eco-spert!" (Aim for the Eco-spert!), which is all about eco. Both of these were really cute because you really don't get to see him do these things much.

Starting from next week though, he'll be working with actress Sudo Risa in the corner "Sports GOGO". I'm really excited about it because I think that will show another side of Totsuka Shota. So yeah. Will report when I get to see it. =D

Yay! It's great to know that the company still loves him, and more cuteness to look forward to!

To commemorate his first anniversary as a regular member on the show, I'll most probably be posting something about it on 26 March. So yeah. Look forward to it! XD

        ■ Hanamaru Market

I was just planning to do something for Totsuka Shota's first anniversary as a regular member on the show, when the news came that they are changing all the daily regular members. >_< For the past year Totsuka Shota has been appearing every Monday as Becky's assistant, but since Becky's leaving, we don't know what will happen to him.

I hope he stays though, because he's really cute on that show, and I think the live broadcasts are good training for him.

■ Hey! Say! JUMP DVD

The Hey! Say! JUMP concert held in Tokyo Dome on 22 December last year will be released on DVD on 30 April. A.B.C. was in the concert, so we can probably expect to see them in the DVD too.
